Does The Man Who Would Be Mayor Really Want To Talk About Tesla?

New York State Representative Zohran Mamdani has seen his support to be the next mayor of New York City swell in recent weeks. The avowed socialist was seen at a rally outside a Tesla dealership in Manhattan over the weekend, which has been the target of protests the past three weekends. One member of the crowd says he found himself in a confrontation with Mamdani that would suggest the mayoral wannabe is not open to much discussion about his motivation or methodology. Jason Goodman is the citizen journalist who operates the website Crowdsource the Truth. He appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to describe his encounter with the people who either provide security or run interference for the man who would be mayor.

“He just sort of popped out of the crowd, talking to people,” Goodman recounted for host Larry Mendte. “And I asked him, how can you support this? Isn’t this economic terrorism? And he said, ‘This is the First Amendment’, and I said, no, no, no… when you crowd out the street in front of a business and intimidate anyone driving up in a Tesla and make it just an intractable- you know, nobody wants to go in there. They’ve closed the place for the past three weeks. How many businesses in New York City could even continue if they were forced to close three weekends in a row? And he just brought in some six-and-a-half-foot tall guy to bump me out of the way, and he just walked away. It was terrible.”

Goodman says that’s when he suddenly noticed people in the crowd who he thinks are out there to quiet opposition. “So, I walk away. This guy’s following me. I’m asking the police, tell this guy get away from me. Why are you protecting him? And then this crowd of people wearing high visibility blue hats crowds around me. So, it wasn’t just our beloved mayoral candidate; this was a coordinated incident, in my opinion.”
