Current New York City Mayor Eric Adams has continued to say that he will be running for reelection as a Democrat, despite the crowded field. Adams will be running alongside many looking to take his seat with his biggest challengers currently being former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, and New York State Assembly member Zohran Mamdani. Joe Borelli, former New York City Council minority leader, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the mayoral race and his views on where each of Adams’ opponents stands.
“Elections are about peaks and valleys,” Borelli told host Larry Mendte. “People don’t want to peak too early; that might have happened with Zohran Mamdani.”
Borelli believes it is currently a two horse race for the Democratic nominee: “Its really a question of whether New York wants a much more further left, progressive vision in Brad Lander or they want sort of the new finger in the wind conservative candidacy of Andrew Cuomo.”
