Tina Landau is making history as the first woman to direct and co-write two Broadway shows in a single season this spring.
First up is Redwood, a visually immersive musical that marks Idina Menzel's return to the stage. The story follows a woman seeking transcendence in the wilderness after a life-altering event. Speaking to Christine Nagy during the Inside Broadway podcast, Landau shared, "A big impetus for doing the show in general was my desire to work with and create something for Idina."
Next, Landau directs Floyd Collins, the long-awaited Broadway debut of the 1996 cult favorite. Starring Jeremy Jordan, it tells the true story of a trapped cave explorer who becomes a media sensation.
Both productions delve into the journeys of adventurous souls seeking meaning, highlighting Landau's artistic versatility and innovation in contemporary theater.
