The Second Trump Administration has been coming together at a frenetic pace, but the names that have been bandied about in recent days- Linda McMahon, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Dr. Oz, Elon Musk- almost feel more like a list fit for an upcoming season of Celebrity Apprentice than for a Presidential cabinet. The names that are political in nature- Matt Gaetz, Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Hegseth- also have a certain odd feel to them. Trump has grand designs for who he wants to lead a certain department, but how do average New Yorkers feel about the appointments Trump is making? WOR street reporter Natalie Migliore hit the bricks for the WOR Morning Show in Columbus Circle to find out.
A man who Migliore stopped was impressed by one choice in particular. “They’re very big names, and Elon Musk supporting Trump is going to change everything, ‘cause he’s trying to change the world right now.”
One woman, however, thinks Trump is gaslighting intellectuals with his picks, but as long as they work out, she’s fine with that. “It’s almost like it’s a slap in my face, okay. That’s what it feels like, and each time, it’s a slap in the face of the people who he considers the intellectuals, the people who are better than everybody else. It doesn’t matter to me. He can go do this. I hope what he’s doing is going to help the people: the poor people, the people who are out of work, the people of this country who voted for him.”
Migliore managed to find one pedestrian who even decided to rate Trump’s odds of having a successful second administration. “With this new administration, I hope they succeed, you know. I think they’ve got a twenty per cent chance, a thirty per cent chance they do nothing, and a fifty per cent chance that everything goes to hell.”
