After the dust settles from the Presidential election, many politicians must turn their heads towards midterm and gubernatorial races in 2026. With New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy nearing the end of his second full term in office, many Democratic politicians have begun to announce their bids to succeed him. Democratic Rep. Josh Gottheimer joined the WOR Morning Show to talk about why he should become New Jersey’s next Governor, and what he thinks the people of New Jersey want amid a crowded field.
“Everybody wants their lives to be more affordable and frankly in Jersey things have just gotten too expensive,” Gottheimer tells host Larry Mendte. “We’ve got a lot of good people running and we share very common Jersey values.”
Despite such a crowded field, Gottheimer believes he stands apart from other Democrats: “There’s only one of us who’s really been somebody who has fought to get taxes down, to get costs down, and actually has a record of doing it.”
