Donald Trump has rapidly begun to fill out seats in his cabinet after winning his second term in the oval office and he has nabbed a couple key Republicans from the state of New York to help fill out important roles. Former Representatives Elise Stefanik and Lee Zeldin have been brought on to Trump’s team with Stefanik set to serve as United Nations Ambassador, and Zeldin in line to head the EPA. Current Representative for New York’s 11th District Nicole Malliotakis spoke with The WOR Morning Show about the recent cabinet appointments and what they could mean for the state of New York.
“They’re going to be great assets to the administration, and I think that they will serve the country well,” Malliotakis tells host Larry Mendte. Malliotakis added, “It’s a loss for New York, but for the whole country it’s a real gain.”
Despite this appointment taking Zeldin out of the running for New York State Governor in 2026, Malliotakis still believes there are positives for the Empire State: “Having these two New Yorkers in key cabinet position really gives New York a lot of access to the administration.”
