Mayor Eric Adams is remaining defiant amid a federal indictment that charges him with bribery and wire fraud.
"I'm going to step up. I'm not going to resign, I'm going to rein," Adams said.
The mayor spoke on Sunday at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Reformed Church in the Bronx on Sunday where worshipers gave him a standing ovation. He promised that he would continue fighting for the city, despite being the first mayor in New York's history to face criminal charges.
Adams pleaded not guilty on Friday amid allegations that he took bribes and illegal campaign contributions from officials in Turkey. He has promised to fight the charges.
