There are now six weeks left for Americans to decide if the want Kamala Harris or Donald Trump at the controls for the next four years. The issues indicate Trump is the choice, yet polls in the swing states indicate Harris gets the brass ring. With neither candidate running away from the other, award-winning NorthJersey.com columnist Mike Kelly wrote a recent article suggesting that Harris could easily win if she just gave the speech she’s been avoiding from the beginning and explain what she did as Joe Biden’s Vice-President. Kelly appeared on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to explain why that one speech would be the game-changer in 2024.
“Let’s be honest- a lot of voters, even Harris supporters, have a lot of concerns about what the Biden administration did vis-à-vis the economy, immigration, and I threw in the issue of crime, as well,” Kelly explained to Berman and Larry Mendte, sitting in for Riedel. “I think Kamala Harris really needs to step up to the plate, and I understand the strategy of looking ahead- you know, we’re not going back and all this politics of joy and that sort of thing. I get that, but I think she needs to own up to what has happened in the Biden Administration… it would bring her a lot of support within those voters who are undecided.”
Harris has not run away with undecided voters, however, despite what Kelly says are numerous missteps by Trump that are opening the door for her run. “She ought to be killing Trump- your pet rock ought to be winning against Trump… The problem, however, is that voters have looked at the last four years and said, ‘Wait a second, Kamala Harris really hasn’t answered what’s gone on there.’ And remember the first question in the last debate, ‘How do you explain the last three and a half years?’- I’m paraphrasing, of course. She just kind of steered around that and then baited Trump, and then he went into one of his rabbit holes of craziness and we never got back to that issue at all, and I think we need to get back to that issue.”
