The MTA Might Be Dysfunctional By Nature Says Author

Author Vincent Cannato talked with Len Berman and Michael Riedel about the MTA's inability to solve their financial issues.

"The MTA is not well run, and possibly is an organization that can't be well run," said Cannato. "The MTA might just be dysfunctional by nature. Fare evasion has gotten much worse over the last few years. The MTA lost $700 million to fare beaters last year and is seemingly incapable of stopping the practice. Governor Hochul chooses who runs the MTA, and with the dysfunction in Albany, it's no surprise that the MTA is in bad shape.
