NJ Democrat, NY Republican Join Forces Against Congestion Pricing

Len Berman and Michael Riedel talked with Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Rep. Anthony D'Esposito (R-NY) about their bipartisan effort to take down the MTA's congestion pricing plan.

Gottheimer and D'Esposito have built a bipartisan piece of legislation that demands the MTA fully reveal its finances. Last year alone the MTA lost over $700 million to fare beaters and are currently running on a $3 billion deficit.

"The MTA has been treating people like they are their ATMs," Rep. D'Esposito said.

While Gottheimer added: "The MTA believes they can get away with murder and have been using commuters' piggy banks to fund their money blackhole for years."

Both Congressmen have asked to see the MTA's books so they can evaluate how the agency's funds are being used. They say the MTA is dragging its feet.
