Police reports say a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in a usually peaceful Manhattan area… a quiet part of SoHo, NY. The search for the suspects is ongoing.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday on Spring Street near Varick Street and Sixth Avenue in SoHo. According to officials, gunshots were heard in the outdoor Urban Plaza, a public courtyard space on private property between two buildings.

A police source mentioned that multiple people arrived on Citi bikes, with one person pulling out a gun and shooting the boy in the head and leg after a possible dispute between the two groups.

The victim, identified as Mahki Brown from Brooklyn, was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. It's unclear if he was the intended target.

The suspects fled on Citi bikes immediately following the shooting. A photo shared by a police source showed two individuals on a Citi bike, believed to be involved in the incident (one pedaling and one seated in the bike's front basket).

The shooting area is close to Broome Street Academy, prompting investigations into whether any of those involved were students there. It's also near a center for teens completing their GED.
