The NYPD is keeping a close watch on synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship across the city following a series of threats made against synagogues in Manhattan over the weekend.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called it "vicious" and announced new funding for safety and security.
Anti-Semitic incidents have been on the rise in recent months and the last few weeks have seen waves of pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses in New York City and around the country. This weekend, some commencement ceremonies were disrupted by demonstrations.
