President Biden had people scratching their heads last night when he appeared on the Seth Meyers show and then went to an ice cream store to announce a possible ceasefire between Israel and Hamas while licking an ice cream cone.
Democratic Strategist Melissa De Rosa talked with Len Berman and Michael Riedel about the terrible optics of the move. DeRosa said, "It was such a bizarre image to announce something as important as a war ceasefire. I went on twitter, and the response was, why is the President of the United States licking an ice cream cone while talking about one of the most important foreign policy topics in years with a late-night TV host. What the hell is going on?"
President Biden was a bit premature in talking about a ceasefire being in place by Monday.
