Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg says Maricopa County District Attorney Rachell Mitchell has "just gotten it wrong at every single turn."
He's ripping the Arizona prosecutor after she refused to extradite a murder suspect back to New York. Raad Almansoori is accused of murdering a woman at a hotel in SoHo and is also suspected of stabbing two women near Phoenix. Maricopa County D.A. Mitchell said because of the way Bragg has treated violent criminals, she believes it's "safer to keep him here and keep him in custody."
Bragg has faced criticism for policies that critics say are "soft on crime." However, he said murder suspects are typically remanded and New York City is safer than Phoenix.
"In 2023 they had 198 criminal homicides. Here in Manhattan we had 73," Bragg said.
