Subway Crime Falling In NYC

New NYPD statistics show that fewer crimes are being committed in the city’s subway system.

The overall crime rate is down 4.5 percent for the year, while the past month saw a 12 percent decline from 2022. At the same time, arrests and summonses were up by more than 50 percent.

Four of the six major crime categories saw decreases, including rapes, robberies and grand larcenies.

Nearly 9,000 arrests were made in the subway system during the first eight months of the year.
