Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from a tournament in California after he was denied entry into the United States due to his status as unvaccinated for Covid-19. Former tennis star Patrick McEnroe joined 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to critique Djokovic’s failure to obtain an entry waiver.

“If you allow Novak Djokovic to come into the country,” the former tennis star opined with Berman and Riedel, “you’re gonna have to make exceptions then for everyone… then you’re opening yourself up to major criticism if you let him in.” Unvaccinated foreigners might be allowed into the Unted States on May 11th, when the Covid-19 emergency declarations are lifted.

McEnroe also touched upon the topic of transgender athletes “This is much to do about nothing because it’s so extremely rare… but I could certainly see from a fairness perspective as a female tennis player, I wouldn’t be too happy if I saw that happening on a consistent basis.”
