Suffolk County Detectives are investigating a shooting that left a suspect dead and two officers in the hospital with multiple stab wounds. The suspect, who has not been identified was involved in an altercation with another man when the police showed up. The man turned a knife on the police and stabbed each officer several times before one of the officers pulled his firearm and shot the suspect in the chest killing him on the scene. Both officers are expected to survive.
