Two MTA workers were approached and verbally assaulted on the platform of the Union Station R train last night. The attacker followed the men onto the train and then followed them off at their stop. The assailant screamed he was going to 'beat them up' and charged at the two men. Unbeknownst to the attacker, one of the MTA workers was an armed revenue collector. The crazed attacker ignored multiple warnings to stay back and continued his threatening behavior, so the armed MTA worker shot him in the chest. The attacker has over a dozen arrests on his rap sheet. The man expected to survive.
