New York Woman Reverses Type 2 Diabetes

A woman was able to reverse her type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure after losing over 145 pounds.

Lisa Dove emphasized how family stress, pre-existing health issues, and eventually, the pandemic led to her weight gain, which reached 297 pounds. Dove claimed she "tried everything" to lose weight but what actually made a difference was seeing the Weight Watchers social media page. Dove said seeing real people motivated her, unlike unrealistic images of "victoria secret models" or girls with "beach bods," Dove said, "They're real people… that's kind of what kept me going, seeing real people being able to do this."

Dove had type 2 diabetes for ten years and high blood pressure. Since losing weight, Dove's type 2 diabetes has been reversed, and her blood pressure has lowered. According to Dr. Maryann McLaughlin, a New York cardiologist, exercise can reduce type 2 diabetes. "By exercising, you can increase the muscle cells to use the glucose and insulin more efficiently," the doctor confirmed. Dove didn't cut anything out of her diet. Instead, she learned how to eat what she wants "in moderation."
