NY Teacher Arrested For Giving Student Vaccine

A New York teacher was arrested on New Year's Day after police were notified that she had injected a COVID vaccine into a minor without his parents' consent.

The 17-year-old visited the Long Island home of 54-year-old Laura Russo on New Year's Eve and was given a dose of the vaccine. He told his mother about it the next day and she notified police. She said she never authorized Russo to give her son the shot and it is unclear how Russo even got the shot. She is not a medical professional and is not authorized to administer vaccines. Police placed her under arrest and charged her with unauthorized practice of a profession. The school she works at has also removed her from the classroom pending the outcome of a police investigation.
