New York Billionaire Surrenders $70M In Stolen Art

A New York hedge fund billionaire is surrendering over 180 stolen items worth more than 70-million dollars. A statement from the Manhattan District Attorney's office found that Michael Steinhardt was in possession of looted artifacts from eleven countries. He agreed to return them to their owners in order to avoid facing criminal charges. But he’s also under a lifetime ban from acquiring anymore "antiquities.” The investigation started in 2017, with it being determined that at least 171 of the items passed through traffickers before Steinhardt bought them.
