We are all currently living in an era ripe with conspiracy theories…so why not get professional baseball in on the action? We all know that MLB messed with the baseballs this year to keep more balls in the park and give pitchers more power. Mets’ slugger Pete Alonso says there’s more to this that meets the eye. Alonso suggests the powers that be in baseball change the balls from year-to-year “depending on the free-agency class or guys being in an advanced part of their arbitration.” He also adds that baseball’s the only sport where the ball changes “every single year.” Maybe it’s true, and maybe it isn’t…but it’s a definite sign as to how much distrust there is between players and the league.
