Watch: Woman Finds Snake On A Shelf In Target

A woman was shopping in a Target in North Carolina when she saw a snake slithering by on a shelf!

Diane Dupre thought she was being pranked at first when she saw a snake on a shelf in her Target store, but no... it was the real thing! Thinking the whole thing was a joke, the customer took our her camera and video'd what she thought was a toy snake.

"I thought it was a child's toy, so I thought, 'oh my goodness someone is pranking me, where's the camera this is a joke,' because it was totally still," Dupretold local news channel WRAL. She was caught by surprise however, when the snake stuck its tongue out. "I looked up and down the aisle and I was calmly freaking out," she explained. "See, he's slithering, oh my gosh I can't even look at this. I'm telling the men to hurry."

A spokesperson for Target said the snake was unharmed and removed from the store. Pest control was called and the area was sanitized.

Professor Gregory Lewbart at North Carolina State told WRAL that black rat snakes are totally harmless to humans. "These snakes are out of hibernation, they're moving around, they're looking for food, they might be looking for mates," Lewbart said.
