You Don't Have To Get Your Body Ready For Summer

Every spring, we’re slammed with the messages about getting our bodies swimsuit ready. It’s time to put the brakes on that! After all, who says there’s only one type of body that looks good in bathing suits? yes, it’s a deeply rooted belief, but it’s time to ditch it.

According to the National Eating Disorder Association the thinking that we have to be thin to be acceptable in a bathing suit is dangerous. Their latest survey shows that nearly 7-in-10 women and girls have experienced a dive in body confidence and increase in appearance-related anxiety as a result of unrealistic beauty standards portrayed in the media.

Those pictures couldn’t be farther from the truth. The average American woman is between a size 16 to 18. Plus sized? No! We’re curvy.

While some women aren’t phased by the media pressure, many are. There are some ways you can shake off the unrealistic message.

  • cleanse your social media
  • move your body in a joyful way
  • use your voice
  • focusing on having the best summer for YOU!
