NY Congressman Tom Reed Apologizes After Misconduct Allegations

A New York congressman says he won't run for re-election after facing allegations of sexual misconduct against a former lobbyist. Republican Tom Reed has apologized to Nicolette Davis and is taking full responsibility for his actions (sort of).

Davis came out last week saying that Reed rubbed her back and unhooked her bra without her consent during an event in 2017. Reed says the incident happened at a time he was struggling with alcohol and since then he's completed treatment and is now in recovery.

Reed has apologized to his wife and children, and to Davis, and says he plans “to dedicate my time and attention to making amends for my past actions.” In a touch of irony, Reed has been among the lawmakers calling for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign over his own allegations of impropriety.
