New Jersey Brush Fire Damages Homes & Sends Firefighter To The Hospital

Officials say the brush fire burning through two towns in New Jersey is contained.

The fire broke out in Lakewood on Sunday and firefighters spent the better part of Sunday and Monday battling the flames, which spread thanks to winds to the town of Brick.

That’s where it grew to 170 acres, damaged 29 homes, singed several sheds and outbuildings, and damaged two office buildings.

The Garden State Parkway had to be shut down, but has since reopened as local officials thank first responders for their dedication. One firefighter is in critical condition after fighting the blaze.

The source of the fire has been pinpointed.
