A man from Long Island recently found a library book that should have been returned over seven decades ago.
Mattituck resident John Moss says he doesn't know how the copy of "Great Heart: The Life Story of Theodore Roosevelt" came into his possession, but he recently discovered that the library book from Amagansett Free Library was due back April 5th, 1949. At a rate of a penny a day from 1949, the amount to be owed was 262-dollars, but the library has since done away with all late fees.
Moss found the treasure while going through boxes in his home. he thinks his mom was the one who checked out the book. The good news is, the library has their first edition book back!
