Here's How To Preregister For The COVID-19 Vaccine In New Jersey

COVID-19 vaccines are on the way to New Jerseyans and that means it's time to get your spot in line.

Governor Phil Murphy's administration launched a website where all Garden State residents can add their names to the list for vaccinations.

Go to COVIDVaccine.nj.gov to get started.

“As we continue to roll out our robust statewide vaccination program, we want to make it clear to New Jerseyans that no one will have to pay for the vaccine itself, regardless of whether or not they have health insurance coverage,” said Governor Murphy via a news release. “We strongly encourage everyone to join hundreds of thousands of their fellow New Jerseyans in preregistering to receive the vaccine and taking another step toward ending this pandemic.”

Registration takes just a few minutes as you'll be asked to fill out a number of electronic forms, inputting your name and address, insurance and medical information.

The site poses a number of questions to determine in what phase an applicant will be eligible to receive the vaccine. COVID-19 vaccinations are being administered in phases to ensure that people at highest risk of exposure to the novel coronavirus are the first to be vaccinated.

After inputting basic personal information, registrants are screened for risk factors, such as in what industries they work and for any medical conditions. The conditions listed on the form include maladies like asthma, diabetes, cancer, heart conditions, obesity, which have been linked to the most severe COVID-19 symptoms.

Some COVID-19 vaccine recipients have experienced allergic reactions to the dose, so applicants are also asked if they've ever had adverse reactions to other vaccines.

Anyone who selects 'Yes' on the medical questions is encouraged to discuss the vaccine with their healthcare provider before scheduling a dose.

Once all the forms are complete, the state informs you that you're on the list.

Residents should receive an email informing them of in what stage they will be eligible for the vaccine and when it's time to schedule an appointment.
