Google Searches for ‘Fries,’ ‘Liquor Stores’ Hit All-Time High

Amid a tight race between President Trump and Joe Biden, Americans searched online for comfort food and alcohol to help them cope with stress as votes rolled in. Google Trends — the analytics arm of Google Search — announced on Twitter that the top all-time “near me” queries were for fries and liquor stores.

And at one point, it listed the top five election night searches: Pizza, Chinese food, liquor stores, sushi and Mexican fare. The website also included several useful graphs that indicated the spike in demand for booze and munchies in the wee hours as the president and his Democratic challenger remained locked in a nail-biter. “Are you thinking about food, this #ElectionDay? You are not alone,” Google Trends tweeted.
