NJ Officer Saves Choking Newborn

A terrified mother couldn’t save her choking newborn, but a quick-thinking New Jersey cop did. She tried CPR on her five-week-old son, but wasn’t successful, so the father called 911 and reported that his baby was “turning blue.” Secaucus police officer Mikhail Kowlessar responded to the call and rushed in to help the infant.

He did some back slaps that got the baby to spit up clear liquid and begin breathing again. It all happened very fast, but Kowlessar knew what he was doing and became this family’s hero.

“Police Officer Kowlessar utilized his training and performed flawlessly, which undoubtedly saved this infant’s life,” Police Chief Dennis Miller says. “I am extremely proud of him.”
