The Social Security Administration recently revealed the most popular baby names of 2019. Well, along with the popular names, they also shared the names that are declining in popularity, and we can't say we’re surprised.
On the female side, the name Karen is being shunned by moms and dads. In fact, between 2018 and 2019, Karen fell 23 spots from 637th to 660th, with only 438 babies named Karen last year, compared to 489 in 2018. It’s now at its lowest ranking since 1929.
Meanwhile, the president won’t be happy to hear this but the name Donald continues to be on the decline, falling 27 spots from 553rd to 526th in 2019. Donald is now the lowest it’s ever been on the list, which has been around since the 1880s. Last year only 506 newborns were named Donald, as compared to 538 in 2018 and 602 in 2017.
