The “pop up” drive-in is about to be a thing.
More drive-in movies and concerts are the vision of one company. Brookfield Properties has signed a deal with an entertainment company to rent mall parking lots across the nation. Brookfield owns malls across the country.
It's a safer way to host events during the pandemic. So far, there are five locations in Denver, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis and Woodbridge, New Jersey. One of the drive-ins recently had a Garth Brooks concert. Other parking lots are looking to host food trucks or serve as coronavirus testing sites.
The company has a specialty team coming up with other ways to use parking lots for COVID-19 weary people to be entertained.
