New York Pre-School Teacher Visits Kids’ Homes & Sings To Each

When a New York City pre-K teacher was missing her young students, she came to visit them each at home and sang for them. Dawn Thompson kept the connection going with all 21 of her preschoolers by traveling to their homes for a socially distant visit to brighten their days.

She came with a speaker and a sign that reads “I’ll always be here!” and sang “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” for them. Thompson says she was inspired to do it after feeling like their online classes just weren’t enough. She reached out to the parents of her students and when they all agreed they were comfortable with the idea, she started traveling to their homes and standing outside to sing to them.

“I didn’t want to just show up with a mask on my face,” Thompson explains. “I wanted to make the visits fun and interactive.” She plans to keep visiting her students from a safe, social distance.
