Judge Bars New York ICE Arrests At Courthouses

A federal judge is declaring federal immigration arrests at New York courthouses are illegal.

Yesterday's ruling stems from a case filed by New York Attorney General Letita James and Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez last year to stop civil immigration arrests. This comes as law enforcement departments and state prosecutors have argued the operations inhibit their ability to investigate crimes.

Groups like the ACLU have said the arrests, which have become more common during the Trump administration, undermine the justice system.
