New York City is giving away 7.5-million free face coverings to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio. They’ll be distributing 5-million three-ply non-medical face masks and 2.5-million cloth face coverings around the city, including at grocery stores, parks, and meal sites.
“Wherever you turn, you’re going to be offered a face covering,” de Blasio explains, “and it’s going to be on an ongoing basis for weeks to come to make sure everyone has what they need.”
He says they’re also sending over 1.o\9-million surgical masks to nursing homes across New York City.
