Reported Alligator In Upstate New York Was Actually Just A Turtle

An alligator discovered in New York state, is turning out to be a different reptile.

An official for the Goose Hill Neighborhood Association said there were multiple reports about a large alligator floating in a pond at Steinmetz Park in Schenectady. After police were notified, a camera was set up in the park on Sunday.

A few people took a deep breath as the footage revealed the reptile was only a "large common snapping turtle." Some residents still think they saw an alligator, but for now officials said the turtle will be left alone.
