The “original” Tiger King is sounding off on the Netflix special.
Antoine Yates was known for keeping a 453 pound Siberian-Bengal tiger in his Harlem apartment in 2001. Ming, as the big cat was known, lived there for two years.
Ming scarfed down 20 pounds of chicken a day, but when authorities found out about the kitty’s existence, the party was over. Yates served a short jail term and Ming was relocated to a sanctuary, where he happily lived until 2019.
As for “The Tiger King,” Yates says “I was turned off by it. It just shows how ignorant these so-called exotic animal lovers can be.”
