Harvey Weinstein is being sentenced on Wednesday after he was convicted in February of raping and sexually assaulting two women.
He faces up to 29 years in prison, but the defense is pushing for the mandatory minimum of five years. Defense attorneys say Weinstein is in failing health and a lengthy prison sentence could result in him spending the rest of his life behind bars.
In a letter, the defense asked for leniency because Weinstein has already suffered a “historic fall from grace.”
Prosecutors have said Weinstein’s abuse lasted for decades and went well beyond what he was charged with.
