Governor Murphy Undergoing Surgery

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is undergoing surgery on Wednesday after a tumor was discovered on his left kidney.

Doctors found it while checking for an unrelated issue and believe it is malignant. Murphy said it’s containable and his prognosis is “very good.”

Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver will serve as acting governor until Murphy returns. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out of the office.
