Mayor Bill de Blasio on Wednesday is signing legislation that could result in vehicles being taken away from dangerous drivers.
A pilot program is being launched that would require drivers with 15 or more speed camera violations or 5 or more red light camera violations to take a traffic safety course. If they don’t complete the course, their vehicle could be taken away by the city.
It’s an effort by lawmakers to improve safety on the roads. They argue that reckless drivers contribute to a high percentage of accidents in the city.
