Chick-fil-A-Loving College Students Buy Plane Ticket To Get Their Fix

What do you do when a Chick-fil-A craving hits and the only one around is in an airport food court? If you’re the cross-country track team from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, you buy a plane ticket to get your fix.

The college students had a week off and wanted to celebrate with lunch from their favorite fast food spot, but the nearest one was an hour and a half away from their campus in Troy. Then the team remembered that there was another location - but it was inside the Albany Airport, behind a security checkpoint and they’d have to purchase a plane ticket to get there. So they did.

Team captain Vincent Putrino found the cheapest ticket possible - a one-way from Albany to Fort Lauderdale for $98 – and had each of his 18 teammates chip in $5.50 to buy it. He drove to the airport and placed his team’s Chick-fil-A order for 15 chicken sandwiches, 15 large fries, 13 orders of chicken nuggets, 1 bag of cookies and 1 lemonade. Their total came to $227.28, but that’s a small price to pay to satisfy your craving.
