NYC To Build 10 Additional Miles of Bike Lanes in Manhattan

Mayor Bill de Blasio says New York City is making the streets safer by building 10 additional miles of protected bike lanes in Manhattan this year.

“We are deepening our efforts to protect cyclists and make our streets safer for all New Yorkers. We will not stop until we have finally reached Vision Zero,” Mayor de Blasio said.

The city has built more than 100 miles of protected bike lanes since 2014. As part of the Green Wave plan, de Blasio is pushing to build an additional 30 miles in 2020.

“Our progress report shows we have done a lot for cyclist safety since last summer, but we have a lot more planned – including all over Manhattan,” Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg said.
