Model With Disability Has Message To Anyone Who Feels 'Unseen And Unheard'

Model Jillian Mercado continues to break barriers and advocate for representation of others with disabilities. She just made her New York Fashion Week debut at The Blonds Fall 2020 show, hitting the runway in her wheelchair and wearing a sparkling gold outfit and headdress.

Mercado, who has muscular dystrophy, dedicated her moment to others in a heartfelt Instagram post. “This moment was brought to you by ... ⁣⁣Every single person who has a disability around the world that has felt unseen and unheard," she writes. “Determination helped me get to this moment and those who believed in me made sure that it was as perfect as I knew I could be.”
