PBA President Pat Lynch is declaring that there’s a “public safety emergency in New York City.”
Amid a spike in major crimes in January, Lynch blames failed leadership.
“For the past six years, Mayor de Blasio and many other elected officials have sent a single, clear message about their lack of support for law enforcement,” Lynch said in a statement.
NYPD crime stats show that shootings, robberies and burglaries all increased last month.
“There are some people rooting against New York City. Let’s be clear, some people think that’s advantageous to their political position, some people think that helps them get attention,” Mayor de Blasio said.
