Many workers in New Jersey got a pay raise, with the state’s minimum wage increasing on New Year’s Day.
The minimum wage rose by one dollar to $11 an hour, as part of a plan signed by Governor Phil Murphy in 2019.The pay had already increased by $1.15 an hour to $10 just six months ago.
The plan will continue raising the minimum wage by one dollar every year until 2024 when it reaches $15.
“By continuing our path to a $15/hour minimum wage, we are giving more families the opportunity to join the middle class,” Murphy said.
