NY State Police Investigating Death Of Incarcerated Cop Killer

The worn bars in the cell block are seen

The death of a convicted cop killer is under investigation in an upstate prison after his unresponsive body was found in his cell earlier this month.

Darrell Fuller was incarcerated in the maximum security section of the Elmira Correctional Facility since he was convicted of murdering Nassau County Police Officer Arthur Lopez, in 2014. Lopez was killed by Fuller during a routine traffic stop in October of 2012.

Supreme Court Justice Jerald Carter, who sentenced Fuller to life behind bars without the chance of parole in 2014 said of Fuller during sentencing, "You, despicable you, are not going to see the light of day henceforth or forever."

According to an article published in the New York Post, Fuller had been suffering from numerous health issues at the time of death and State Police authorities do not believe the death was of a suspicious nature.
