Fireman Arrested In Alleged Charity Theft

An FDNY spokesperson has confirmed to the gothamist.com that a 43-year old Lieutenant in the FDNY has been charged with stealing cash from a Staten Island Catholic school fundraiser.

Officials allege that Christopher Hughes took money from the Blessed Sacrament School three-day Holiday Fair.

The NYPD has confirmed that Hughes was arrested Friday after "Someone saw him do it and reported it to the police."

According to FDNY officials, Lt. Hughes has been suspended for 28 days.
