The Rockettes Welcome First Dancer With Visible Disability

The Radio City Music Hall Rockettes are well-known for their high-kicking routines and now for the first time since their New York City debut in 1932, they’ve added a dancer with a visible disability. Sydney Mesher, who was born without a left hand, grew up in awe of the famous dance troupe and now she’s one of them.

The Rockette says she’s in the position thanks to a lot of hard work, great support and amazing teachers. “I’m very grateful and very, very humbled to be here,” Mesher explains. “Coming here, I was overwhelmed with compassion and the aid that I received.”
