Officials at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School suspended a 17-year-old -boy for secretly taping a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old girl in the boy's locker room and then posting it on social media.
A teacher at the high school saw the posting and notified the school administrators, who then notified law enforcement.
The unidentified boy was arrested and charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, unlawful surveillance and endangering the welfare of a child. The suspect was released to his parents and is scheduled to appear in Albany County Family Court Next week.
Authorities at the High School released a statement to the New York Post that read, "This is not the first time that students at RCS or other schools have utilized social media with extremely poor judgment, resulting in harm to other students or in breaking the law."
