NYPD: Times Square Threat Not Credible

The NYPD has stepped up its presence in Times Square following an online bomb threat.

“The bomb threat made against Times Square is a despicable and cowardly act meant to instill fear and panic in our community, and New Yorkers will not tolerate these scare tactics,” Governor Cuomo said in a statement.

The governor said he was directing state police to coordinate with federal and local authorities to investigate. The NYPD said it’s also investigating.

“The threat isn’t believed to be credible. Out of an abundance of caution you will see an increased NYPD presence at locations throughout NYC including Time Square,” the NYPD said on Twitter.
